Meet the Hosts
Barrels, Belief, and Becoming is a conversation we never imagined we would be having—and now can’t stop having. It was born from lives steeped in evangelical faith, years spent inside the church and behind pulpits, and the slow, costly courage it took to let certainty burn away.
We are DeEtte and Abbi—both former pastors, shaped by traditions that once named what was holy, true, and possible. DeEtte is a lifelong Kentuckian, a pastor’s kid, and a military veteran, formed deeply by the rhythms and language of the church. Abbi was raised in an evangelical household and spent decades doing what was expected, trusting the rules over her own voice—until midlife asked for something more honest.
This podcast is where we sit with the questions we were never supposed to ask. We talk about faith deconstruction, queerness, grief, and the surprising freedom that can come after loss. We do it with humor, tenderness, and deep respect for what once felt sacred—even as we untangle it.
If you are learning how to live without the answers you were handed, if you are becoming someone you were never taught how to be, deconstructing your faith, or just like the bluegrass and bourbon – pull up a chair. Pour a glass. Come belong with us as we become, together, after the burn-off.
